Rolled ankle dozens of times, only thing that makes it better is strengthening my ankle and shank. Everything else is just to help with pain and inflammation in the short term.

A sprained ankle can take anywhere from 2 weeks to a several months to heal depending on the severity.
If it feels like a normal sprain then drastic measures aren't necessary, just RICE that shit.
I usually find I'm okay the next weekend with a week of RICE, range of motion exercises, & an ankle taping by an AT teammate. The taping is really important and needs to be done properly with anchors, stirrups, etc. by a proper athletic trainer.NachoEnforcer Ankle Sprain

I use voodoo tape that Kelly Starrett developed with the Mobility WOD and it has worked like magic for me - like for a minor sprain going from some pain to nothing in less than 30 minutes. For more major sprains you are going to need more time, but seriously, magic.

I have had luck with taping. I find it more helpful that using an ACE wrap. KT tape has a good video giving a run down on how to do it.

Went out this morning for a 4 miler , and after my run , was walking back to the car and was doing some high knees running for a few feet then I step on a broken piece of the sidewalk and fell down twisted my ankle . It swelled a little I'm icing it and keeping my leg elevated . I did my 10k this morning on a slightly swollen ankle , tape it with some k t tape took a 800mg ibuprofen. felt real good through out run. A little pain won't kill you !!

I have peroneal tendon subluxation and a torn retinaculum and I use a J pad around the ankle bone combined with ankle tape. It still subluxes a few times a day but its manageable. No luck with an ankle brace, wasn't tight enough
