Two podiatrists recommended fusion of hallux rigidus. Third was orthopedic foot and ankle surgeon who did a plate and six screw fixation of joint. After 8 months, infection , removal of hardware, and skin graft from top of foot to incision site at side of foot, the area is healed. It's been two years and the pain is worse than before the surgery. Stabbing pain never went away.
