Orthotics, Supportive Shoes, Stretching, Strengthening Exercises

RN working 12-hour shifts which ran into 14 regularly. Onset was acute and pain high level. Did stretching exercises every day before feet ever touched the floor, had always gone barefoot but once this started, never put my feet down unless the right cushioned shoe was on. Did exercises several times throughout the day. Never took shoes off until bed or bath time. There was little pain if proper stretching and exercised were done the first thing before getting onto my feet daily. It took about 3-4 months to cure. This is over 10 years ago and never had a reoccurrence. The temptation to go without shoes is still hard but I don't make a habit of it. I also do not wear & sandals or shoes that are totally flat or have little cushion or support. That would be asking for trouble. The lazy way is to let someone shoot you with cortisone or other meds which could cause muscle or nerve damage. Be diligent and do the exercises and if necessary lose the weight!
