I had spinal fusion surgery in October, 2014. The doctors attributed the burning and pain to my back surgery. I found a salt free diet with lots of water to help ( no take out, no restaurant food). Maybe this decreased the water retention and swelling which I did not have before the surgery. I tried acupuncture which helped slightly. The podiatrist suggested raw almonds and cinnamon, I then added turmeric to my diet. I am also stretching my calf muscles which are extremely tight, probably due to the surgery. I now wear water shoes during my water aerobics class and that helps a lot. I actually have a rupture plantar plate but I am not planning on surgery unless absolutely necessary.
