I injured it by wearing inappropriate boots (Uggs) while hiking with my dog and I stepped on a rock and tore the fibers and than proceeded to walk on for another 1/2 mile. I thought I just bruised it but until a week later I couldn't walk on it at all.

Now with exercising, stretching and physical therapy for the first 3months and for the last 6months I've been doing exercising, stretching and acupuncture which has helped drasticly.
