I let it go for 3 months or more before going to a doctor. I was fearful of the cortisone shot because of something I was told once, so I put off going. The shot wasn't that bad at all, but it also didn't help and in fact I had more pain 24 hrs afterwards. You have to be very religious about the stretching exercises and, if you let it go for a long time before seeking treatment, don't expect it to go away soon either. That foot still bothers me but I don't work the same job, where I was standing on my feet for most of the work day. I've retired. I don't feel like it ever went clear away but it's better. However I don't know if it's just better because I'm not on my feet a lot anymore. Definitely were the orthotics and don't go with some cheap imitations. Get molds made of your feet. Everyone's feet are different.
