It was a combination of everything. There were specific protocols to how I iced, stretched and used a golf ball for a self accupressure treatment 2 times a day. It's been years now and, while I still wear supportive shoes, I no longer need to continue the treatments. It took less than a year for it to go away. I do feel most comfortable wearing shoes as barefoot walking isn't 100% comfortable for me.
