After many years of walking several miles a week, I developed plantar fasciitis. First I went to a podiatrist whose solution was surgery. Unwilling to take that route, I went to an orthopedic doctor who perscribed a boot to be worn during the night which holds the foot at a 90 degree angle. It worked! Within days I wasn't hobbling when I got out of bed in the morning, and no resting pain either. I also began wall stretches after every walk, and soon I didn't need the boot. This was 20 years ago, and haven't had plantar fasciitis since. Keeping the fascia stretched is the key to no pain.
