Pain started in Jan 2017. Ignored it until May 2017. Went to a podiatrist in May 2017 and he gave me the diagnosis of PT and then gave me a cortisone shot in the heel. Told me I should feel better in a few days. After a few days, felt little to no improvement. Went back in early June 2017 and he gave me another cortisone shot. Still no impact. This office was really pushing their custom orthotic solution so I shelled out the $500 for this '95% cure' solution. In August 2017 I started wearing the orthotic. Made absolutely no difference. Had them adjusted 3 times. No difference. He told me I had to wear them for over a year before contacting him again.

In November 2017 I decided to see a Physical Therapist (PT). He told me that my major issue was that I had little flexibility where my big toe attached to my foot. His theory was that this was leading to tightness which in turn caused the pain (I am really not describing this accurately). Anyway, starting in mid November 2017 I was doing daily stretching and strengthening exercises and also getting once to twice a week Graston and Dry Needling (this is somewhat painful). He told me that I only needed a month to see marked improvement.

Here I am in late December 2017 and I feel I am about 20% improved. He was expecting at least 60% by this time. Some days I forget I have PT and some days it feels that I am back to square one. I will give Physical Therapy another month or two before looking for the next solution. Meanwhile, it seems that if I stay off my bare feet (always wear shoes with a supportive heal) and limit my running/standing/walking then I won't flare up too bad.
