I had my first back surgery in 2011 - laminectomy and fusion of low back. Stopped the sciatca in right leg but still had low back pain. Did physical therapy which helped but later in the year I once again had bad pain so it was found that screws had got loose. Exactly a year after first surgery I had 2 surgeries on same day. One doctor repaired loose screws. Another doc cut into my side and did a laminectomy above first and also another fusion. I had pt again and I walked with a walker or a cane.I had a lot of pain on left side at the surgical site. To me this surgery should not have been done. In Jan. 2014 I had a tumor removed from my spinal column in mid back. I used another doc. I had a long recovery and had to spend 3 weeks in a care & rehab Center. I received no further pt and struggled to walk with a walker. I have been taking pain pills since 2008 which help. I ice occasionally. In Aug. 2015 the pain on the left side became unbearable so I went by ambulance to an E Room and doc there told me I had a large hernia directly above site of second surgery. They removed it and I have been on a cane or walker ever since. Have fallen several times. Now have a bulging disk above site of second surgery. I am starting pt and in a lot of pain. I rely on my prescription pain pills. I iced it at first but haven't lately. My legs are weak and I have drop foot. Using walker all the time. What would you suggest. Maybe I should be icing. I want to walk! I smoke and I guess I need to stop. I am also getting steroid shots into mid back. Have only had one but sceduled for another soon. It Did stop the pain Just above scar on side which is where I was cut In twice. Also have a loose piece of disk somewhere in low or mid back. Every now and then when I move something pops and it's very painful. Low back hurts bad. I am trying to lose weight. Maybe massage? Tens unit? I need to continue to get well.
