as a dressmaker I find that standing more than 2-3 hours or sitting sewing for more than 2 hours makes my middle lower back ache to the point of not being able to do what I want or need to do. The regular exercise routine is certainly helping my flexibility and easing the pain from sitting or standing for an extended time. Gardening in easier since using a kneeling stool.
Having just spent a week of rest on a different harder mattress with no housework or sitting on a computer or sewing machine but just walking in the forest I feel remarkably fit and motivated to keep up more walking.
