I am retired, but generally very active. Standing longer than a few minutes still brings up severe sciatic pain in my left leg. Walking is somewhat better, but also limited to about 20 minutes. Before the pain started in May of 2017 I led a most active life with all the physical activity I liked to do, including crosscountry skiing and hiking.
Though the sciatic pain still comes up while standing or walking -- overall I have made progress. I no longer am unusual tired to the point that I now have an active life in the evenings. I continue to do most of the exercises as suggested except am more cautious with those that involve the gluten since the cranio-sacral therapist who I have seen for the last 2 weeks pointed out that especially my piriformis is very tight. I don't feel I can accurately feel what muscles I tighten when working on the muscles on my butt. She has suggested I lie down on 2 tennis balls, carefully and gradually moving to the more tender points. Also she suggest I lie prone on a foam roller to soften my thigh muscles.
