Pelvic/back injury in skiing accident in 2000. Started having back problems/sciatica in 2004, unstable spondilolithesis at L4-5. Had a fusion in 2004, healed well with full return to life x 6.5 yrs, then started having problems above and below fusion. Had Laser Spine surgery- they did everything possible and 3 mos later I was back to normal. At the end of those three months, I was walking thru an airport and attempted to help an older lady in a walker who was falling - the leg of her walker got stuck in a hole in the marble floor of the terminal. As I helped her, I tripped and fell myself, onto my knees reinjuring my back (but didn't know it at the time). Presented with left leg, IT pain and knee pain. It got to the point that I was dragging my leg. I had unnecessary knee surgery because nothing presented in my back, no one thought it was my back causing the problem. I finally went to a neurosurgeon after having an MRI. The MRI report talked about a bulging disc at L3. When the neurosurgeon looked at the MRI, he showed me where I had a fragmented disc at L3-4 and said THAT was causing all the pain. The radiologist totally missed it and I not only suffered greatly, but had unnecessary knee surgery. We went to surgery and he did a laminctomy and microdiscectomy. I was pain free in the PACU and went home that day. Eventualy (a year or so later) I started having pain again, and had some Epidurals which helped - I was still able to do most anything and worked full time.

More than 2 years, I started a new job and on the second day, I tripped over a rolling dolly someone left outside my office door at work, and took a huge fall onto a concrete floor, injuring my neck, shoulder, elbow, knee and back. I am now unable to work and am on disability - have had no luck trying to heal, unable to do much. Looking at more surgery - just to get some % of my life back. I have arthritis in my back, shoulder, elbow, knee as well as bulging/herniated discs, a neck problem which hasn't even been addressed yet, and all the other back stuff: stenosis, muscle spasm, facet joint and SIJ pain as well as leg pain with weakness and radiculopathy. NOTHING HELPS.
