Major pain in hip and down my leg to my knee after digging in the garden. Numbness in knee. Pain medication did not help. Pain was so bad that I could not sleep. I walked with a stoop to one side, very slowly. I could not lie flat but I could be pain free when sitting. Eventually doctor prescribed Gabapentin and that reduced the pain. MRI diagnosis was facet hypertrophy. I did physical therapy for many weeks and the pain very gradually decreased. After 4 months I had a spinal injection of steroids. This did nothing and was very stressful to undergo. So I did not return for a second attempt. My pain very slowly reduced over many months. I did physical therapy exercises and started walking every day starting with 10 minutes and gradually increasing. After 6 months I took the Gokhale Method class for posture. It was very helpful. After 10 months I started chiropractic treatment which has also helped. I stopped Gabapentin after 10 months. It took at least 1 year for all pain to go.
