    Postural Modifications, Gokhale Method

I've had scoliosis since I was a young teenager. The treatment at the time was to wear a brace for six years to prevent it from getting worse, but it has never been corrected. The best thing I have done for my back health is to take the program through Gokhale Method to learn postures, ways of moving and lifting that minimize the compression in my vertebrae. I have integrated these postures into my daily life (as I walk, exercise, sit in meditation, and sit working in front of a computer) in addition to sharing them with students who take meditation classes with me. The Gokhale Method has given me an approach that I may continue work with as I age and it gives me hope that my scoliosis will not become debilitating to my quality of life.
