I have had low back pain since I was a child due to an injury where I broke my tailbone. My hips grew in a twisted fashion causing chronic low back pain mostly in my right QL and SI joints. As I grew older, my pain worsened to the point I averaged throwing my back out about every 6 months. When this happened, I had to take about a week off from my regular daily activities and modify my work and exercise routine. I recall the last time I had an episode, the pain was so back I fell to the ground and couldn't get up for about a half hour. I had a deep tissue massage treatment that allowed me to stand upright. However it took about a week of icing, ibuprofen, and daily stretching before I as able to get back to my regular routine. It wasn't until I found the Gokhale Method, which restores primal posture, that I really got a handle on my back pain. I was able to truly understand how my body is supposed to be positioned and move so that my movements became therapeutic and the right muscles get strengthened and lengthened versus creating more wear and tear on my spine. As a massage therapist, I feel I have extended my massage career by years as now I can move functionally with less effort. It's been three years since I started this new posture journey and I've only had a few aches and pains that were able to be resolved in a few days. I am so impressed with this method that I am now a Gokhale Method teacher and am on a mission to spread the word and teach others about this truly life changing approach to alleviating back pain. My quality of life is greatly improved and that is priceless!
