Strained lower lumbar muscles carrying granddaughter in her car seat. Extreme pain on lower left side of back. Pain radiated around hip and down front of thigh. Extreme pain in thigh when I put weight on it. Ice, heat, rest, elevation, Advil, Aleve--none did a thing. Bought a thigh brace with magnetic strips. Took edge off of thigh pain, but put extreme pain on lower back. Got back brace and had reverse---pain in thigh. Both braces together helped slightly when there was no weight on that leg. I was on vacation during this. Terrible going through security at airport/walking to gate/ and standing in line to board plane. Dr put me on prednisone, 4pills for 3 days/ 3 pills for 3 days/2 pills for 3 days/ and 1 pill for 3 days. I'm on 2 pills now and haven't had relief in swelling yet. Pain is getting better--I can put weight on it. I do stretching exercises that really hurt my back afterwards, and core strengthening exercises that haven't done anything. I was very active (for my age) before this. I did Zumba and weight training 4 days a week.
