I had a spinal fusion 4 years ago L3-S1 and that really, nearly cured 15 years of pain from an injury I received at work. Now I injured L2 and I have a bulging disc pinching a nerve. We were set to do surgery #2 when I got scared and postponed. I had my Chiro adjust as close to L2 as possible and he seemed to move it enough to give me relief. Now I will wait, be careful and see if it heals before my rescheduled surgery. I do feel that I would not have had relief without the first surgery, my Chiro helped me as long as possible to not have surgery but I had too much arthritis in my back for the manipulation a to continue to give me relief. One thing not listed above as things tried to help back pain, I also had a career change to a less physical career and that did not prevent the surgery either.
