Now 87yrs old.....was told I needed a spinal fusion at 80yrs old....did not do this....have had back problems since my thirties....but it came and went thru out the years...hurt it bad again in my fifties with heavy lifting and then the pain was like every day....what helped me the most and it only lasted six weeks and that was in January of 2016 and I had Epidural Injections....my scaticia pain was horrible, had it for two years...it helped a great deal, no pain for six weeks and then slowly came back it is now July and it still is not as bad as before but do have it every day, especially after a few hours of shopping...am thinking about having them done again....my sister had back surgery at 86 yrs old all tho it was outpatient the pain was so bad for her.....she was better for a while, six months or so but now is right back where she started....all tho I may be too old for surgery (am in excellent health for my age, just my back) I still would refused the surgery....I don't live on pain pills but do take them when necessary....I do water exercise five days a week and have done so for 25yrs and now can't do the aerobics....I use a "noodle" and work my arms and legs, does it bother my back?, yes it does but I need to exercise in some way so this is what I do...
