I hurt my lower back working as a CNA, then as a RN. I had a discectomy(should have fused!), then a 2 level CAGE, which did well for 8 yrs, but tried chiro, acupuncture, heat, ice, PT-many times, massage helps still today. After my 3rd back surgery, I was started on fentanyl patch, Ativan, Valium, Neurotin, but I finally took myself off fentanyl, Ativan, & it wasn't easy. I talked to my pain management physician about SCS, long story to get there, but it was the best thing!!! I can control my amount of pain being controlled. I have cut my Neurotin from 800mg 3 times a day to 400mg, twice a day, Perocet 2 tabs, twice a day to once a day in the evening, & muscle relaxer to just at night. I'm only a month post-op & I hope to continue to cute down on more meds!!!
