      Physical Therapy,

I experience very little pain unless I have been working in the garden for longer than I need to or doing heavy digging or pulling up of roots. As a dressmaker I find that standing more than 2-3 hours or sitting sewing for more than 2 hours makes my middle lower back ache to the point of not being able to do what I want or need to do. The regular exercise routine is certainly helping my flexibility and easing the pain from sitting or standing for an extended time. Gardening in easier since using a kneeling stool.
Im sleeping longer but as warmer weather comes in am more active.
Having recently travelled by train or 6 hours and return by coach in 5 days with only one rest stop my buttocks and right hip ached for a while but once I got walking again was relieved.
I havenoticed when climbing shallow depth steps i get a pain in my left kneewhich does not occur if the steps are deep and not as much push on the knee.
carrying up to 14 8litre bucket and 10 watering cans of water to water my garden have tested my back strength but I dont need to walk more than 2-20 metres and do it one at at time or lessen the volumeof water and carry two for balance but I'm tired when I finish doing this twice a week

What I like and trust most of all about the Gokhale Method is that it is about un-learning what is not natural (acquired poor posture), and learning how to return to what is natural and healthy. I wish I had discovered it years ago, but I am very excited to hear Esther say that we can improve our back health (even after decades of causing damage from poor posture and from aging.) I took the foundations class and now am enrolled in the continuing education offerings program that is available upon completion of that course. I am discovering that there is so much more going on in the Gokhale Method than helping my back to be pain free. It's about caring for my entire body in a beautiful and joyful way. Every part of us is connected and every part of us affects our back. It requires a real interest in taking responsibility for one's own health. It requires some effort but it's fun and happy effort. Thank you Esther! I am grateful because for the first time I am hopeful that I am not going to end up like my parents who suffered and suffer from severe back pain on a daily basis. I have suffered from intermittent lower back pain for decades but not any more. My back is feeling GREAT now that I am learning and practicing the Gokhale Method.

With all of the methods that I marked (especially Gokhale method) I believe I can manage the back pain. Or at least if it starts to hurt I know what to do to manage the pain in a way that the pain is gone or at least is diminished.
