The cortisone shot helped with bringing down the inflammation, but what has been the most helpful is postural improvement, specifically, wearing orthotics and being careful to keep my ankles straight such that my feet don't pronate. By keeping my ankles straight over my feet my knees and hips line up. Major improvement! But I have to keep mindful of what my feet and ankles are doing. It amounts to trying to keep an arch in my foot.

I had a very physical job (construction) and a very active dog to walk twice daily. My hip bursitis was beginning to affect my ability to do either of those things well.
