Hi I have osteoarthritis of both knees. Probably started/aggravated by 12 hour nursing shifts and my weight. 245 pounds. Tried all of the shots. Cortisone helped a lot but only for a short length of time. All of the other injections did not help or actually aggravated my knees. I have kidney issues so I cannot take nsaids of any kind. I take gabapentin which does help but makes me feel just awful. I think the longer I take it perhaps the effects may become less burdensome. It does help though and I still prefer it to narcotics. When I am in more severe pain, I take Tylenol number three, which helps as well but still has some side effects which makes me quite apathetic. I know the weight is an issue, and every pound I loose I feel better, but it is just so difficult. I am a diabetic and take oral meds which lower your blood sugars and you have to eat x amount so my blood sugars do not get too low. Ain't life grand? LOL
