Having had a lot of knee surgery in my early 20s I have had sore knees of almost 20 years. Swimming especially with a kickboard and fins helps strengthen my muscles as does acupuncture and doing my "exercises" religiously. Biggest help has been high dosage fish oil (6000-8000mg a day) - I am surprised there has been little mention of it in this article or comments? I know it does thin the blood as well which may have issues for some people but I have found the reduction in pain to be up to 70%.
