I hike the desert from 2-7 miles a day. After a course if Cipro, my achilles became tender and swollen. Sometimes it is disabling and I will rest and alternate heat and ice for a day. I have worn the boot for several days in a row for complete rest. I only do a mile or two at a time right now, go very slowly, avoid hills, and still end up in pain if I do more than 118.5cm miles. Nightly massage with eucalyptus oil seems to help a little.
