I struggled through my first half marathon last year because of severe pain in my achillies tendon (self diagnosed). Here's what helped me recover after the race:

  • Iced it twice a day for about 20-30 minutes each
  • Got brand new shoes (turns out my 2 year old shoes were crap and offering 0 support)
  • Stretched it out twice a day
  • Took 2 motrin pills twice a day
  • Didn't run for about a week
  • My mom (physical therapist) also performed what's called "ASTYM" treatments to help break up the scar tissue around the tendon
