I'm six months, two weeks into my insertional Achilles tendinitis. I've seen my physician, physical therapist and orthopedic surgeon. After typical stretching and cross training failed to help I sought out acupuncture (dry needling), which has helped tremendously in the past three weeks. I couple that with sleeping in a Strasbourg sock and am on track to hit the road next week.
I've been injured before, but have never been couched this long. It is better to heal fully than exacerbate any injury, despite the frustration, so that we can continue running for the long term.
